Ben Cook

Founder & Director, Radio Design

Ben has been exploring the world of immersive content creation, visual effects, motion graphics and animation for the past 17 years. Under his direction and creative lead, the award-winning studio he founded, Radio Design, has produced pioneering VR & AR experiences in collaboration with firms such as Microsoft, Virgin Atlantic, and Disney, and the artist/writer/performer Childish Gambino.

In 2015, Radio Design was selected by Microsoft and Virgin Atlantic to create IDA, the airline’s first immersive digital adventure in VR, which its CEO Craig Kreeger launched at Microsoft’s Future Decoded conference later that year. Last year, Ben and his team collaborated with Microsoft and Disney to create the Beauty and the Beast AR experience, showcased in stores to launch the Windows 10 smartphone. And throughout 2016, Ben worked with Microsoft + Childish Gambino creating Pharos, a virtual world with 360 real-time concert visuals and a VR experience for mobile. Pharos was awarded Gold and Silver in the Clio Awards 2017.

Ben also worked on the James Bond movie Skyfall, creating the iconic Jellyfish billboard graphics that formed the computer-generated backdrop for Daniel Craig’s emblematic fight sequence. His rich heritage of expertise in visual effects, motion graphics and animation embraces a diverse range of projects, including cinema idents for Sony, visual effects for Pink Floyd, and numerous television title sequences and graphics for BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5 productions.

Ben is passionate about immersive technology, and is currently exploring its power to create meaningful human experiences by blending the physical and digital worlds and generate new forms of immersive storytelling.
